Welcome back to my very special guest, Michael Phillips! In this week’s episode, Michael tells about his upbringing as a Communist in 1940s America, followed by the Beat Movement in the ’50’s and attending UC Berkeley in the ’60’s.
I met Michael at my Quaker meeting a few years ago and I’ve enjoyed hearing his stories and point of view as our spiritual friendship grows. You may remember my previous interview with Michael, TNP24: Grieving Susan + Civilization.
In this conversation, Michael takes us from his childhood in Depression-era America, growing up Communist, the devastation of the Khrushchev era in Russia, rolling with the Beatnik generation in the ’50’s, and his time at UC Berkely in California.
